Congregate living at Thresholds involves multiple people living in the same home. Thresholds offers a variety of congregate living options in Kitchener, Cambridge and Guelph ranging from homes shared by 3, 6 or 8 people. Each person has a private bedroom and shares common spaces like bathrooms, kitchen and living room with others. Support from Thresholds or other community partners is provided to each person.
Support in each home is based on the needs of the residents with a focus on mental health recovery. In most homes, staff support is available onsite up to 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. The agency also offers shared living options for people who are more independent with daily activities and receive weekly or bi-weekly support from case managers.
In homes with staff onsite daily, residents are offered a range of support including assistance with managing their mental and physical health, household tasks, support in the areas of medication, budgeting and crisis support. We also offer recreational activities and encourage involvement in the community.
